You may want to get BE clothing for aggression. Not sure if it helps or not but thats what I have and I can tame a merek in 1 or 2 tries. Also you may want to wait for the extra bonuses from master CH.

You can try to come up from behind. The baby has a less chance of smelling you. I've learned this from the aggressive Mire Marauder. You can get up close if you walk up from behind the creature.

I use a macro

/dismount;
/pause 0.3;
/tame;
/pause 0.3;
/mount speeder;
/mount X34;

So if a baby goes aggro, I can just run.

If you were in a group, that might be why. At Squill Caves, when i was grouped to grind scout exp for CH, other ppl in group always got attacked then i was aggroed, but if you weren't grouped, i have no idea y it detected u :(

For my pet hunting excursions I use +taming pants shirt and hat.
I use my mask scent clothes to approach and then \"during\" the tame I switch to my taming clothes. It may or may not make a difference but I have not had a failed tame in the last 2 weeks...

Gurreck, Graul mauler, Rancor and many other lower pets have not failed once.

I dropped 3 of my BE pets cause the urge to tame was too strong.
